A BIT ABOUT MY TWO MILITARY ROMANCES

“When my ammunition was exhausted, I grabbed magazines from the wounded and managed to protect the position until another Bradley fighting vehicle arrived on the scene. I helped load the most seriously injured soldiers before letting them take me.”
He moved away from her, put his face in his hands…tears flowing freely, and said, almost inaudibly,
“Crawford, Matthis, Chambers, and Blake…all…gone.”
She moved to him, opening her arms, gathering him in. He rested his head on hers, closing his arms around her shoulders. They stood together in silence. The breeze picked up, cooling the air, and the rustling of the palm leaves covered the sound of his soft shuddering sigh.  On my website

“Glad to be delivering you back to your sister. Say what does she look like again?”
“Stay away from her, Captain. She’s got enough to do takin’ care of me. She can’t be cryin’ her eyes out over givin’ it to you.” Benson chuckled.
“Too bad. But then if she looks like you, maybe not!” Danny laughed.
“I’m not tellin’.” His brow furrowed, Benson asked, “Say Captain…you sleep good?”
“Okay, I guess,” he lied.
“I see things. I wake up. I don’t sleep all night,” Benson said quietly.

Danny nodded, looking away.
“Will those things go away? Will I always be seein’ Joe or Cal when I go to sleep?”
“I hope not,” Danny said, without conviction, looking down at his hands.
“At least I’m still here. Thanks to you.”
“I told you, just shut up about what happened,” Danny snapped, making a fist.
“Why?”
“Everybody here does his bit. I did mine…with you. Don’t talk about it,” Danny said in a low voice. On my website

LOVERS & LIARS, NEW RELEASE!

I'm so excited that the sixth book in the Hollywood Hearts series is out! Let me share a bit of the book with you:
A bit about the book:
Alone in the world, Erica Wheeler needed a job or face eviction. The aspiring actress harbored a lifelong dream of movie stardom. She knew she had the talent, all she needed was a chance. Her roommate, Amy, plotted revenge on her former boss, sexy, bad-boy producer, Gunther Quill, for firing her. Together she and Erica bent the truth like a pretzel to get her a job working for Quill. He surprised her. Was he the same meanie Amy described or was he simply a smart, ambitious man on his way to the top?

One thing Gunther Quill hated was a liar. Tough, seductive and brilliant, he prided himself on being truthful. With his sharp, new assistant, Erica Wheeler, he’d soon be the most powerful producer of musicals in Hollywood and on Broadway. Nothing could get in his way, except maybe, falling in love. Can a liar become his lover?
EXCERPT
For her new job, Erica was being forced to live with one of the biggest lies of her life, and she was damned uncomfortable about it. Amy, her roommate and Quill’s former assistant, had convinced Erica to lie on her resume, claiming she had graduated from an Ivy League college. In the interview, Erica had convinced Gunther that she had no interest in acting, even though a career as an actress was her heart’s desire, and she had talent.

He was adamant about not hiring someone who would use him as a stepping stone. Which is exactly what I plan to do. She remembered Amy quoting him—‘I’m not paying someone to use my contacts to build their career. I’m paying them to be my assistant. That’s all!’
EXCERPT
As her gaze slowly slid over his muscled chest, her breath caught in her throat. The broad expanse of his shoulders and the covering of dark hair on his pecs, coupled with his washboard abs, made her hot. She fanned herself until she realized what she was doing. Heat flew through her body, settling in her cheeks and between her legs.
Her fingers itched to touch him. She wanted to feel his strong arms close around her, pulling her to him. She ached to feel his warm skin up against hers, to have him inside her. Squeezing her thighs together only made it worse. Oh God. Look at him.
EXCERPT
Bumping into his hard chest threw her off balance. She clutched at him as he steadied her. Their faces were only inches apart. Gunther slowly drew her into his embrace. Erica didn’t resist, her hands flattened against him, and her fingertips dug into his flesh.

TUESDAY TALES - ECHOES OF THE HEART - SWEET

Welcome to Tuesday Tales! This is a continuation of my story, "Echoes of the Heart." Dale has decided to leave Willow Falls because the memories are too painful. But before she goes, Sylvia, Cliff's wife, has one last request. Thank you for coming.
“Would you tell your mother my wife would like to see her?” Cliff asked Joe.
"Sure.”
“She’s in hospice care, so today, maybe?”
The boy picked up his cell phone.
Dale sank into a chair in the kitchen. Why does Sylvia want to see me?  She knew what hospice care meant. Sylvia is out of time. Dale drove to town and picked up a cup of chai latte, her friend’s favorite tea. She drove to Cliff and Sylvia’s place.
The house was painted a soft lemon yellow with black shutters and white trim. Her chest constricted. The same colors. A conversation so many years ago with
Cliff flashed through her mind. They were lying on a mound of hay after making love in the barn.
“So if I bought you a house.”
“Would it be big?”
“Huge! The biggest on the block. No, the biggest in town.”
She giggled.
“What color would you paint it?”
She had chewed a nail, thinking. “Lemon yellow with black shutters and white trim.”
“Perfect.” He ran a finger down her cheek.
“Will we live there forever?”
“Forever and ever.” He’d leaned over and kissed her.
Tears clouded Dale’s eyes. Drawing several deep breaths helped her regain control over her emotions. She rang the bell. Cliff answered.
“Good of you to come.”
“I brought her favorite tea. Can she have it?”
“Of course,” he said, stepping aside.
She followed Cliff to a small bedroom, where Sylvia lay, propped up by pillows. She looked weak and shrunken.
Dale placed the tea on the nightstand. Sylvia smiled.
“Come, sit, my friend.”
Dale took the top off the tea.
“I brought you some sweet chai.”
“Thank you. I’ve known about you for years. I was hoping our paths would cross.”
“What do you mean?” A chill flashed through Dale.
“Every woman pokes through her husband’s wallet at one time or another.”
Dale swallowed.
“Your picture has been there. Moved from old wallet to new for
many years.”
“I’m sure its…”
“I know what it means. I’m not angry or even surprised. I knew when I met Cliff that someone had broken his heart. That a piece of him would always love her.”
Sylvia closed her fingers over Dale’s hand.
“He doesn’t know I know.”
“Sylvia, I haven’t seen Cliff in many…”
“I know that. I’m not accusing you or him of infidelity.”
“Then what?”
"I’m leaving him to you. I’ll be gone soon and you two can finally be together. That day he came to pick me up, I saw. I saw that he had broken your heart, too.”
Dale twisted the napkin that came with the tea, but didn’t utter a word.
