What's my answer? I admit that being immersed in my fiction world may make my expectations a little unrealistic sometimes. But that's just me. What about you?

Not really. But then I'm far more interested in what's in the head than under the shirt. I admit to finding geeky guys kind of attractive.
My heroes are anything but perfect. Can't stand reading about the perfect hero because they don't really exist in the real world. I've got my feet on the ground, so I guess it doesn't bother me. Great post, Jean.
Trust me. My Daddy, my Hubby, and my FIL are all my heroes. However they keep me grounded....ahem. ;)

I do admit a good visual distorts my expectations a bit...but I find the most attractive quality of a book hero is more than the physical, it's what else they have to offer. I find pleasure in their tortured souls and redemption (or lack of in some cases)...
And really, I've known very few men with bodies like these in my real life...been fortunate to date one of them...but mostly men just don't look like this...so it's all my fantasy, and I'm ok with that expectation..because real men fade, fantasy men stay vibrant and sexy forever ;)
I have to admit that a too-perfect hero pulls me out of a story very quickly. Too rich, too handsome, too BORING. I like men who don't know how attractive they are and are genuinely delighted (and even surprised) to discover that the woman likes them.
Fiction is fantasy. I like a hunk between the covers.

I read to escape real life.And I like my characters to be hot and alittle flawed.Perfect is boring but conflict makes the book more interesting to me.But it also depends on the mood I'm in.I love to look at the hunk on covers.

I don't think hunky heroes make me disappointed in real men. These are the fantasy, the escapism, whatrreally matters is who they are inside, how they handle what life throws at them.

I write about men I would like to know, preferably eye candy, but more intelligent than the heroine. (Must be some kind of thing a shrink would have fun with.)

For me no, I know the difference between reality and fantasy but it is nice to fantasize about the perfect male specimen.

Thanks for the eye candy. I'm single so there isn't one here at home continually falling short. I think writing and reading romance puts you in an amorous mood so maybe some faults could be overlooked. Does that answer the question?
perfect doesn't really exist. we all know that, but it's nice to dream. lol
I think we all read as an escape. No one is perfect. That being said, a good description makes for a better picture when we read. I think if the hero (and even the heroine) have flaws, we, as readers, can better relate. No, I don't feel disappointed in real life men. I do feel some real life men get too vain about their looks.

Sometimes it does, but when I create my heroes, I always think that the perfection factor is relative. Instead my heroes just try to be the perfect mate for the partners they choose or are destined to be with.

Not at all. I haven't found my Prince Charming yet (the first one was a complete Toad) but the books give me hope that there is someone. Keep up the great writing and I'll keep reading!!
