TUESDAY TALES

This week we take a break from "Sexy Night at the Museum" to take a peek at the sequel to "Sunny Days, Moonlit Nights" called, "April's Kiss in the Moonlight" the newest book in the Moonlight series:

As April McKenna drove her small car around the bend and approached a tiny town, a good looking, big man with short, reddish brown hair stepped into the street and stuck out his thumb.
“Yeah, right, Mr. Serial Killer, like I’m going to give you a ride,” she said aloud to herself, speeding up to pass him quickly but unable to direct her gaze away from his.
She averted her eyes hastily, trying instead to concentrate on sorting out her life. Driving the back roads from Willow Falls, NY to San Francisco gave April time to think. She had finished her MBA and was heading back for an internship in her father’s company, prelude to a staid, boring, corporate life. The thought of such a future left her restless . . . and restlessness was fast turning to unhappiness. April didn’t want to go back . . . didn’t want to live her father’s life. She wanted to break out, but didn’t know how, she she’d always been the good girl, doing the right thing, what was expected of her.
With her mind occupied, she was driving on automatic pilot and saw the glass scattered in the road too lates to avoid it. Her tire lasted another half mile before it blew. She pulled onto a muddy shoulder and got out of the car. She rummaged around in the car trunk having no idea where the spare tire or the jack were or even how to use them if she found them. She pulled out her cell phone only to remember she’d forgotten to recharge it before leaving school. Then she laughed when she realized there was no one to call anyway. You’re supposed to hang something white on the door handle when you need help. April returned to the car, took off her white lace panties, the only white object she had and hung them on the door handle, closed the door and waited.
Only a few houses dotted the lonely country road, but acre after acre of green fields was bursting with ripe crops.  Standing on tiptoe, she could make out a farmhouse in the distance. The tall corn stalks of late July blocked her car from view by anyone at the house.
Half an hour passed and no car came by. Was she about to spend the night there in her car? Then she saw him in the rear view mirror. It was Mr. Serial Killer, coming around the bend, and heading straight for her car. She felt panic rise in her chest as she locked all the doors and hunkered down.
He walked up to the car and knocked on the window, startling April, who jumped. When she turned to look at him, he was smiling at her.
“Flat?” He asked.
She nodded.
“Pop the trunk,” he said.
Can’t you get inside the car through the trunk? He could attack me . . .
“Take it easy. I’m not a mass murderer. Want to help you change your tire,” he called to her.
April popped the trunk. If she didn’t want to spend the night alone in the dark, accepting his help was her only choice.
“Are these yours?” he asked, plucking her panties off the door handle and holding them up to the car window. The white lace bikinis looked ridiculously small in his large hand.
April felt heat seep into her face and knew she had turned several shades of red. Avoiding the stranger’s gaze, she opened the car window and snatched the panties from him. He laughed, shook his head and headed for the trunk, as she struggled to put the panties back on while sitting in the front seat.
“Easier to jack up the car if you’re not in it,” he called to her.
Reluctantly, she got out of the car, keeping an eye on him and perched on a large rock at a safe distance to watch him, hugging her knees to her chest.
“Rusty,” he said, extending his hand after taking off his backpack.

Look for "April's Kiss in the Moonlight" to be published soon. Thank you for stopping by. Please give me your feedback at sunnydaysbook@gmail.com.

Six Sentence Sunday, a taste of "Now and Forever 1, a Love Story"

She moaned at his touch. He unfastened her buttons, opened her blouse and looked at her. Her breasts were perfect, exactly as he imagined. He bent down to kiss one then came up to give her another deep kiss, possessing her mouth while his hand gently squeezed her breast. Callie unbuttoned his shirt and pulled his tee shirt up then she slid her hands up his bare chest, feeling the softness of his chest hair and the power of his muscles. Then the doorbell rang.

A little about the book:
Now and Forever 1, a Love Story is about Callie's Richards, a young woman who's known tragedy, and her journey back to a fulfilling life. After losing the love of her life, she meets Mac Caldwell, a handsome dean at Kensington State University. Can they build a life together after facing hardship and loss? You'll cheer with her triumphs and empathize with her setbacks when you read this emotional story.

Review from The Pen & Muse:
"Joachim brings in the romance we all know and love. A romance where love conquers all and can withstand just about anything. I loved Mac and Callie’s story about their hardship and their courage to continue. I loved the interaction between Callie and Mac’s son. From start to finish you are rooting for these characters and don’t want to put the book down. Joachim always writes great stories of love and passion. Stories like these teach us that love is stronger than anything else. Those who love contemporary romance will love this book!"

Sweet Saturday Sample of "Now and Forever, Callie's Story"

Thank you for stopping by. Today I have two different excerpts of my free prequel, "Now and Forever, Callie's Story". We start with a snippet of chapter one and then jump to Callie meeting Kyle for the first time.

Chapter One
Callie swore to her sister she knew something was up because the sound of the doorbell was different. The teen remembered going to the big picture window in the living room that Saturday to watch sheets of rain come down hard from heavily clouded skies. Boredom crept into her body and she slumped down on the window seat, tracing behind raindrops racing down the pane with her finger. Then the doorbell rang. Afterward, everything seemed to happen in slow motion.

She opened the door to reveal a grim-faced policeman dressed in dark blue, water dripping off his hat, his hands nervously clenching and releasing. She looked up at him with a questioning gaze until she saw the look of sadness in his eyes. Her hand flew to cover her mouth as tears filled her eyes.
“Callie Richards?” he asked. “There‟s been an accident.”
Callie stood there, not hearing him, just staring.
“There has been an accident. Your parents…” He gestured helplessly. “You‟d better come with me.”
She stood still, her feet riveted to the floor the tears cascading down her face almost as fast as the raindrops on the pane. The policeman heaved a sigh and entered the house, found a raincoat behind the front door and an umbrella. He helped her don the coat and opened the umbrella.
“It's the rain. It washed out some of the small bridge over Chestnut Creek. The car skidded on a mud slide. It happened fast. Come on, let's go, Callie,” he said, gently taking her elbow and guiding her to the police car.

A few days later at the house of her neighbors the Westons...:
Plopped on the sofa attempting to read, Callie answered the door when the bell rang.
“Is John home?” asked the most handsome young man she had ever seen.
Callie nodded and stepped back to let him in. The young man's gaze swept over her slowly, drinking in the beauty of her face and figure, stopping briefly at the cleavage peeking out of the neckline of her tank top. She blushed under his scrutiny.
“Kyle!” John loped down the stairs two at a time.
Kyle Maine pried his attention reluctantly from Callie to greet his best friend. A brief hug, a slap on the shoulder then Kyle turned to Callie.
“New sister? You been keepin' something from me?”
“She's a neighbor. Callie Richards, this is Kyle Maine.”
Kyle nodded at Callie, his lips parting into a wide smile. Her eyes met his and she nodded. He was about five foot ten inches, sandy blond hair and had a bright smile, which warmed Callie‟s frozen heart.
“Hey, beautiful, wanna join us?” Kyle asked.
Callie's hand opened up and the sweater she was holding slid to the floor. John put his hand on Kyle's arm and shook his head slightly in response to Kyle's questioning glance. Mary Weston appeared from the kitchen.
“That's a fine idea, Kyle. It would do this young lady good to get out of the house. Do you feel up to it, Sweetheart?” Mary asked, putting her arm around Callie's shoulder.
Callie's large turquoise eyes connected with Kyle's. The room fell quiet as she gazed at him, a blush rising from her chest to her throat. Kyle's smile vanished, replaced by a heated stare that made her shiver slightly. Mary stepped back. With a silent nod, Callie bent down to pick up the sweater she dropped at the same time Kyle did. Their hands touched, sending tingles shooting up along Callie's arm, and she backed off, allowing him to retrieve the garment.

TUESDAY TALES - New Chapter of Sexy Night at the Museum

Click HERE to read the first six chapters

Chapter Seven

Liza stretched her arms over her head then brought them down, folding them around the naked chest of Dr. Rick Banks hovering over her in the big bed.  As he lowered his mouth to hers, the phone rang and Rick looked at the clock…seven a.m. He gave Liza a quizzical look as he removed his hand from her breast and moved over to pick up the phone.
“It’s the police,” he said turning his head to face her, cupping his hand over the phone.
Liza slid out of bed as Rick continued his monosyllabic conversation with the police. Stark naked, she sat next to him on the bed, draping her arms over his shoulders, distracting him.
He took her hand and kissed her palm before responding to the policeman on the other end of the phone.
“Yes, officer. It’s my day off, but I don’t mind coming in. No, I understand. It will take me an hour or so…” he looked at Liza, his gaze moving down her body and back again,
“Maybe more. I have some…uh…research I’m doing at home I need to finish before I... Right,” he said, hanging up the phone.
“What was that about?” She asked, her fingers sliding up his neck and dipping into his dark hair.
“Some robbery at the museum. The police want to talk to everyone. I guess you’re coming with me.”His hand sought her breast again, cradling it.
            “Me?”
“They want to interview everyone, including beautiful, sexy interns. But I think we have time for a shower.” He bent over and nibbled her  neck.
            “Again?”
“This time we’ll use water,” Rick chuckled as he stood up from the bed, lacing his fingers with hers and led her into the bathroom.
****
An hour later as they stood finishing their coffee in the kitchen, Rick moved closer to Liza. He leaned over and planted a kiss on her soft lips.
“I can’t seem to stay away from you,” he muttered.
“Don’t want you to,” she whispered, moving her body up against his.
Rick put down his coffee cup, gave Liza one more quick kiss and picked up his keys. They got in his car for the short drive to the museum. Liza gazed out the window, dreaming of what it would be like to be Mrs. Rick Banks. He mentioned marriage but they hadn’t gotten around to discussing it yet. She knew what her answer would be.
Her dreams were interrupted by the sight of five police cars parked in front of the museum. Liza got out a couple of blocks away as was her custom so the administration wouldn’t know she was Rick Banks’ lover, which was against the rules, and walked in.
In half an hour, Liza was bringing Rick his second cup of coffee at his desk. He was wearing his mask of polite disinterest in case anyone should happen by, but he smiled a knowing smile at her before she turned to leave.
Liza was stopped by Donovan Carstairs, Rick’s assistant curator. Not tall and good-looking like Rick, Donovan had mousy brown hair and a rather large nose. He had asked Liza out several times. She did once go to lunch with him, but found him self-absorbed and pompous.
Donovan had an Ivy League degree and thought that entitled him to first dibs on Liza’s luscious body. Unfortunately for him, she didn’t agree.
He never gave up and began to notice the heat between Liza and Rick as much as they tried to hide it. Liza tried to ignore his jealousy and repeated attempts to ask her out but he was persistent.
“I’ll have a coffee, while you’re here, Liza, make it the same way you do for Rick” Donovan said, his gaze focused on her breasts.
“My face is up here, Donovan,” she snapped at him, moving her arm across her chest.

****
When Liza returned with his coffee, Donovan and Rick were talking about the theft.
“The Dodo egg?” Rick asked, his eyebrows raised.
“What about the Dodo egg?” Liza asked him.
“Donovan said they thief stole the Dodo egg.”
“That’s a very valuable piece, you know,” he said, turning to Liza. “The Dodo bird is extinct.”
“Duh, Donovan!” Liza said, making a face when he turned his back to her.
“The police are searching everyone’s desk and such,” Carstairs said.
“I’ve nothing to hide, let them come,” Rick said. He picked up a specimen and proceeded to make notes.
            “Are you sure?”
Rick looked at him with his brows knitted and a frown on his face.
            “Of course.”
“I’m simply saying, Rick, if you needed money or anything and thought this wouldn’t be missed, I hope you took it home. After all, swiping the precious egg at midnight makes a getaway easy, doesn’t it?”
Liza wanted to slap the smug look off Donovan’s face. Pink crept up her neck to her cheeks.
“Donovan you’ve got a lotta nerve…” she began.
Rick took off his magnifying glasses, rubbed the bridge of his nose and trained a hard stare at his assistant. “How do you know the robbery took place at midnight, Donovan?”
